This book presents papers from the International Conference on Sustainable Civil Engineering and Architecture , which was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from 24–26 October The conference brought together international experts from both academia and industry to share their knowledge and experiences, and to facilitate. For at least the past years, small-scale farmers in semi-arid environments have had to mitigate shortfalls in crop production due to variation in precipitation and stream flow. Sustainable Improvement of Small Ruminant Production in the Semi-Arid Areas of Lebanon Article (PDF Available) in Journal of Sustainable Agriculture 25(3) April with Reads. About these proceedings Introduction This book discusses the conference that forms a unique platform to bring together academicians and practitioners from industrial engineering and management engineering as well as from other disciplines working on production function applying the tools of operational research and production/operational.

In the semi-arid tropics high and sustained agricultural production is hampered by many natural const raints. The SAT farmer mus t cope with the vagaries of a rainy season that is shor t and highl y unpredictable; intense rainfall interspersed with sudden droughts ; soils with low infiltration capacity and thus great water erosion hazard; and, finally, a high evapot ranspiration rate dur ing. Using data from a household survey, the effects of rural roads on sustainable agriculture was examined in selected semi-arid areas in Kenya. A Tobit model was used to establish the factors that influence the decision to invest in soil conservation measures and the level of investment in terracing and a Three Stage Least Squares (3SLS) method was used to determine the direct and indirect. and sustained food production. The conference on which this book reports reviewed experience and progress in the improved use of African Vertisols and developed important recommendations for future research and development of this resource. Vertisols, sometimes called cracking clay soils, cover approximately 80 million hectares of. Conference proceedings are a collection of technical papers presented at a professional association meeting. These meetings are sometimes referred to as conferences, symposia, workshops, expositions, exhibitions, and the like. The papers go by a variety of names also, like: papers, abstracts, extended abstracts, manuscripts, presentations, etc.

Watershed Organisation Trust (WOTR), is organizing a two-day international consultation of experts to discuss the impacts of this C global temperature rise on Indian agriculture, particularly in semi-arid areas that are dependent heavily on the monsoons. The conference will consider the implications of climate change on the following.   Proceedings of the Conference on Design and Semantics of Form and Movement - Sense and Sensitivity, DeSForM Edited by: Miguel Bruns Alonso and Elif Ozcan. Others imply that the areas prone to desertification might not be restricted to arid, semi-arid, or subhumid regions, by using such descriptive words as extension, encroachment, and spread of desert characteristics into non-desert regions. Still others (e.g. Mabbutt and Wilson, , p) refer to the intensification of desert-like areas.
